Don't Jump, chronicles a woman's quest to find her place and purpose amidst sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll and celebrity. It's a story of unfulfilled potential, addiction, and bad behavior. Ultimately, it's a story of redemption, told with levity and a wicked sense of fun.
Don't Jump takes us backstage and off-screen with a world famous athlete, rockers, movie stars, and some of the biggest names in comedy. A wickedly funny female perspective, it's an inside view from an outsider. From the kings of late night, to America's #1 shock jock, to the top sitcom earners of all time, we glimpse their humanity, previously unexposed.
Andi's story drives Don't Jump her descent and her resurrection. The celebrities who populate her life add spice and flavor but, it's Andi's perceptions that fuel the narrative. Smart, sassy and sexy, she projects confidence and success. But beneath her cool exterior, she knows she's "simple, boring and fat."
Seeking solutions for her disintegrating marriage, tumultuous show biz ups and downs, her slow and painful recovery, and mid-life transition, Don't Jump explores Andi's journey to make her life count.

Vicki Abelson's " Don't Jump " book takes you on a high octane ride through the 80's up until the early 2000's. I know- as a former talent agent and person who was in casting - I rode that same music and comedy scene from that era , back in the day in NYC. And yes, there's that mother issue that I so identify with. Andi Stone is clever, talented, narcissistic, witty ,good looking , insecure as a single women and as a mother and wife. She's also as lovable as she is annoying. When Andi as a single woman and as a married mom, are down - you feel tremendous empathy for them. When they pull themselves back up - you find yourself cheering them on. Truly wanting them to succeed. The sex, drugs, rock n roll and comedy are so vividly described that you can't help but wanna sing along to Karma Chameleon on MTV while your toking it up and realize that you have to much hair product on. Don't Jump is a real page turner , and the thing is .. you find yourself really caring for Andi Stone . Her escapes and struggles are as humorous and outlandish as they are emotional ..and as a woman, very relatable. Again , and there's that mother issue. I honestly didn't want this book to end. I can't wait for the film version.. oh yeah, there HAS to be a film version and I know just the right actress who I think should be cast as Andi Stone. Buy this book. Now!! What a ride.Product details

Don't Jump Sex Drugs Rock 'N Roll And My Fucking Mother edition by Vicki Abelson Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews
I loved going on the "ride" with Vicki in this book and LOL I would much rather read these sex scenes than the ones in "many shades of gray", more real and relatable and sexy at the same time. I also loved reading about some of the places that I frequented in New York when I lived just off Bleeker St and went to see live music over a decade and a half ago.
Thoroughly enjoyed this, often hilarious laugh out loud, poignant and raw at times, book. I also loved the "behind the doors" look into various elements of the entertainment industry. No wonder so many major players in "showbiz" are reading this book.
I bought this book on because I wanted it right when it came out. Then I bought the hardcover so I could always grab it off the shelf when I needed a laugh. But then I bought the audio book because there is nothing better than having Vicki telling you this hilarious story in her own voice. It is at once hysterical, poignant, and deceptively smart. A must read.
"I always wanted a happy ending..." So begins the quote of Gilda Radner's before the beginning of Vicki Abelson's novel, Dont Jump. Life isnt about one happy ending, and that's what Dont Jump tells us. Life is the journey, happy trails and sad paths, as well as good roads taken and those roads, not taken, which keep us wondering. I fell for Andi Stone almost immediately. She is a go-getter, a ruminator, thoughtful, and funny. Vicki Abelson shows us, reminds us, that life is full of peaks and valleys, accomplishments and disappointments, and love and loneliness. Dont Jump could easily be retitled Dont Give Up. I didnt want the book, my reading adventure, to end, as I wanted Andi Stone to jump some more for me. Dont Jump is a celebration of a woman's life. A must read!
Vickie Abelson’s Don’t Jump, is not only witty and soo entertaining, but gives me a believable front-row seat to the world of stand-up comedy and rock artist promotions. I also get to feel the elation and disappointment of life “in the biz,” but from a very unique perspective; what it’s like for the family and how it affects relationships. Along with all that, the author is ruthlessly honest with herself about her personal foibles as she shares with us her equally insightful understanding of others. And, of course, there’s the mother that powerful critic who hurts so thoughtlessly. Watching Vickie overcome this, I also get a clear image of how twelve step recovery opens us to surrender and growth. Thanks for a very fun read.
Any book that holds my attention and entertains me I consider a great find - especially in this day and age of IPhone appendages, racing schedules, and duty obligations up to my eyeballs. When I turn my attention to a story and don't want to let it go, that is my little piece of heaven - my escape. One of the things I enjoyed the most is that Vicki Abelson writes like I talk. She's got attitude and a mouth. I immediately liked her and wanted to know what happens to her. Then I realized that I was jealous. She has actually lived the life (or one of the lives!) I wish I had had. I've never been to New York but now I really feel like I know what it was like in its rock club heyday. I don't read reviews before I read a book or see a movie, I want to make up my own mind, so I will not put any reveals here...and there are many. Hot sex, hot bands, club life, the famous and the infamous, and what happens when all of that meets motherhood. A great writer, Alan Zweibel, once said, "Stick your pen into your heart then write." That's what Abelson has done here. Naked emotions, experiences, and a real point of view. Did I mention laugh out loud moments and, for my sensibilities, audible gasps of shock that scared my cat? Did I mention sex??? Lol....enjoy!
I was told on twitter, I would get a "funny-back guarantee" by the author, and she was not kidding!
WOW, was I due for a gut full of laughter.
You have to read it, I am not going to spoil a moment.
Glad I get her following me back on TWITTER and the great comment.
If you were a teenager of the 70's into 80's, this rock and roll book of amazing "crossing of paths", and outrageous experiences. is for you.
I surely can identify, even with the tough stuff.
Thanks for the giggles~
Ok! I'm finally writing review for this book! (Just ordered 2 more copies for girlfriends) This book Rattles & Hums, Makes You Laugh, Makes You Cry. It's Summer 2017, & I'm rereading this roller coaster ride again. It's funny, it's real, it's really sexy. Mostly it's the story of a young woman in NYC, heyday of who's doing who & all that went with that. For me it's heartwrenching as Vicki Abelson takes me along, confides in me, and reminds me that women survive, thrive, and never give up. Guys, want a peek inside our heads? Read *Dont Jump* and see our vulnerabilities thru Andi's eyes. LoveLoveLoved It ✨ Bridget Clooney
